Reggie Bush tweets apology to Dolphins fans

Reggie Bush had perhaps his worst outing in recent memory during Sunday’s 37-3 trouncing by the visiting Titans.

The seventh-year running back totaled just 21 yards on four carries and one catch for 8 yards against a bad Tennessee defense.

Most notably, Bush lost a first-quarter fumble, his second of the year. The mistake prompted coach Joe Philbin to bench his lone offensive playmaker for a majority of the half, a decision Bush later defended.

Although he’d return in the second half, Bush would receive one carry (which was nullified by a penalty) and, for good measure, added a dropped pass to his stat sheet.

Admittedly embarrassed with his “effort,” Bush tweeted an apology to the fan base for what they had witnessed.

Following a hot start to the season, the 27-year-old has cooled down considerably. Despite averaging a healthy 4.4 yards-per-toke, he’s topped the 100-yard mark on the ground just once — way back in Week 2. In fact, he’s failed to top 60 rushing yards in any of his last five games.

If the Dolphins (4-5) are to make a playoff push, they’ll need a reliable ground game, if only to take some pressure off of rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill. It wouldn’t be a total surprise to begin seeing Daniel Thomas eat into Bush’s workload.
