Drew Brees replaces RG3 on Pro Bowl squad

For the seventh time in his illustrious career, Drew Brees will be headed to Honolulu.

The Times-Picayune reported Wednesday that the Saints quarterback has been named to the NFC’s Pro Bowl roster, replacing the injured Robert Griffin III.

Joining guard Jahri Evans and punter Thomas Morstead, Brees is the third Saints player to earn the honor this season. He expressed his excitement on Twitter, but also lent support to Griffin, who underwent a full knee reconstruction on the same day.

This marks the fifth-consecutive year Brees makes the trip. He originally was chosen as a first alternate behind the Packers’ Aaron Rodgers and Falcons’ Matt Ryan, both of whom qualified for the postseason.

Brees finished his playoff-less 2012 campaign with 5,177 yards and 43 touchdowns, becoming the first player in NFL history to top 5,000 yards passing three times.

Suffice it to say this lei won’t be Brees’ last.

Who is the second alternate? In case Atlanta and Green Bay both win this weekend? Can we finally get the ONLY NFL QB that threw for 5,000+ yards and 40+ Touchdown a well deserved but late Pro Bowl Appearance?!? Earned it last year, but get one for this year will make total correct!
