Chiefs reportedly inform Joeckel that Fisher will be top pick

The great debate may be over.

Charean Williams of the The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Chiefs have told Luke Joeckel that Eric Fisher will be their pick at No. 1 overall in tonight’s draft.

It’s worth cautioning that absolutely nothing is certain, however, as misinformation is still being spread by teams regarding arguably the most unpredictable draft in recent memory.

Kansas City coach Andy Reid appeared on NFL Network earlier Thursday, confirming the club has made up its mind but wouldn’t reveal their choice. It’s been said that Chiefs coaches preferred Fisher, while K.C. scouts wanted Joeckel.

Throughout the last few weeks, countless reports and mocks have flip-flopped to account for the Texas A&M and Central Michigan tackles. No one has seemingly got a concrete read on the Chiefs’ intentions.

If Williams’ information is accurate, though, the Jaguars, sitting at No. 2, will have a massive decision on their hands — select Joeckel or try to trade out of the pick.

In any case, the madness will officially begin in a little more than three hours. Buckle up.

UPDATE: For what it’s worth …
