David Beckham reportedly offered NFL kicking tryout

It appears one NFL team wanted to Bend It Like Beckham.

The U.K. Daily Mirror reports that an NFL scout contacted soccer star David Beckham a few years ago to see if he’d be interested in trying out as a kicker.

Beckham would decline the offer, but the idea was logical.

As the website says, “Beckham’s skill at bending in long range free kicks can be perfectly adapted to scoring field goals in the NFL.”

In a time when rugby and basketball players are being utilized by the NFL — and with talks of a franchise in London — it only makes sense that the soccer circuit is now being scouted.
