Mark Sanchez reportedly opts for surgery on torn labrum

After initially putting it off, Mark Sanchez is going under the knife.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Sanchez has opted to have surgery to repair the torn labrum in his right throwing shoulder. He’s expected to undergo a 4-6 month rehab process

The Jets’ former starting quarterback was injured in the preseason, and initially decided against surgery on what was reported to be a torn labrum and shoulder separation. Rapoport mentions that Sanchez is hoping to give rehab “one more crack,” but “knows surgery is coming.”

The team had placed Sanchez on the Injured Reserve – Designated to Return list on Sept. 14, with the hopes of him returning much later in the season.

With Sanchez’s 2013 campaign officially over, he can look forward to his release from the Jets in the offseason. The man behind the ButtFumble has played his last snap for Gang Green.
