Jadeveon Clowney: My goal in NFL is to sack Andrew Luck

Jadeveon Clowney really has it out for Andrew Luck.

The Texans’ rookie linebacker said in a video on the team’s website that he’s aiming to take down the Colts’ franchise quarterback.

“My goal for the rookie season is to try to better myself as a player,” Clowney said, per Profootballtalk.com. “And my goal in the NFL is to sack Andrew Luck. He’s in my division, playing him two times a year, he’s a dangerous quarterback, he makes good decisions with the ball, so I just want to get after him and sack him one time.”

If you recall, Clowney warned Luck prior to the draft to “have his head on a swivel” if he teams up with J.J. Watt in Houston. Since that materialized, he’s keeping his priorities straight.

Clowney is shifting from college defensive end to edge linebacker in the Texans’ 3-4 alignment. Assuming it’s a smooth transition, he should have ample opportunity to get after all quarterbacks — Luck included.

The Texans’ chances to dethrone the Colts could very well hinge on Clowney reaching his goal.
