News of Vick Ballard’s season-ending injury apparently has reverberated far beyond Indianapolis.
Per reporter Darren Urban, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians cried upon learning that Ballard suffered a torn Achilles tendon during Friday’s training camp practice.
Arians said "I cried last night" when he heard Colts RB Vick Ballard went out for season. Arians coached Ballard in Indy.

For those wondering about the connection, Arians spent the 2012 season with the Colts, functioning as the offensive coordinator and interim head coach. That year happened to be Ballard’s first in the NFL, when his team-high 814 rushing yards helped Indy earn a playoff berth.
That was also the last year Ballard was fully healthy. In 2013, he played just one regular season game before a torn ACL sent him to injured reserve. Now it’s his Achilles that’s cutting short another campaign.
Despite a series of unlucky breaks, Ballard’s social media activity since his injury indicates he’s taking things in stride.
Gonna have a great story to tell one day… http://t.co/H19D6PbyFe
