Jared Allen suffering from pneumonia, lost 18 pounds

All week, Bears defensive end Jared Allen missed practice with what was termed an “illness.”

That illness, it turns out, is pretty severe.

According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, Allen is suffering from pneumonia, which has caused him to lose 18 pounds. He’s dropped from 255 pounds to 237.

Allen, one of the NFL’s ironmen, told Glazer that there was no way he could play through this. The Bears declared him inactive for Sunday’s game against the Packers, snapping Allen’s streak of 113 consecutive games played.
