Steve Smith insults Woodyard, Titans after ‘body slam’

Steve Smith didn’t do much running in the Ravens’ win over the Titans on Sunday, finishing with just 17 yards on three catches.

His mouth, though, ran plenty after the game.

Baltimore’s talkative veteran receiver ripped the Titans, whom he implied were soft, and linebacker Wesley Woodyard, who perhaps proved was soft.

“I body-slammed him, so I think that’s really a testament to their lack of strength and conditioning coach down in Tennessee,” Smith said, per the Baltimore Sun. “5-9, 194-pound guy body-slams their linebacker, man, he needs to get his weight up.”

What Smith is referring to occurred in the fourth quarter, when the 35-year-old Smith engaged 28-year-old Woodyard on a block, easily tossing him to the turf. The play would draw a holding penalty, which was denied.

Tennessee fell to 2-7 on the season, losers of three-straight and seven of their last eight contests. Maybe just maybe Smith figured out why.

Ice up, Wesley.
